Today’s Tomboy is about being a modern “tomboy”. A girl who dances to a drum of her own beat, who enjoys hanging with the boys but still likes to look good doing it. I plan on writing about my many passions: life, college, beauty, skin, hair, fashion, lingerie, pets, cooking, shopping, and more. Generally, anything a woman may show interest in. Hopefully I will be able to bring my own point of few on the subjects.
Before this website, I have had several. I’ve been the owner of many a domain, my first being Safari-zone.com, a website dedicated to the lovely creatures we know as Pokemon. My interests grew and I decided to make a new website (Cruxis.org) where I offered my design services and graphics. It was probably the most popular site I ever created. After it closed I tried several times to make ‘new’ design sites trying to offer things the other guy didn’t have but. I had sites called Retro-Rocket.com, Bullets Lie, and Dementia.
I started not liking making free designs because I felt no one really used them and concentrated on graphic resources. But I felt my time was wasted on this so I started just having a blog. That trickled down to a Blogger blog named Musings of a Misanthrope and then to, Demeter Aurion.com, a personal blog. Now today I have updated it to something more user-friendly, Today’s Tomboy.
Here I am! Shaylee, or Demeter Aurion as I go by online. Ever since I could remember, I’ve not been like typical females. All the girls would make fun of me because I didn’t want to look like a Barbie doll who just came from American Eagle.In my eyes, all those girls were trying to be the same. I wanted to be myself. Throughout high school I was kind of a gothic kid. Today, I enjoy a “dark” flare but my style has grown up too.
My hobbies include shopping, cooking, video games, internet and technology, bras, couponing, web design, hair, beauty, and so much more. I often get very attached to new things and overindulge myself.
I am a web designer by trade, student by day? Next year will be my last year before I earn my Associate’s degree in Web Technology. So far I have learned not so much from college. And if the government didn’t pay for it I doubt I would go. I’ve taught myself much more about design and programming than I have learned about. For that matter, half of the fourteen year old designers I used to link to are quite better than my classmates… But I digress.
Other hobbies I enjoy are taking care of my two pacman frogs and a crested gecko. I have two doggies too. Pets are one of the great things of the world. If I ever move out of this place I would love to just have a room of animals! One of my frogs, Rupert, has been sick since I’ve owned him but I try my best to keep him healthy. My new frog, Frobert, is a chubby little guy and loves to eat. Eglantine is my crested gecko who I think is a bit small but I’ve had him almost three years. Finally there are my two little babies, Nyx and Pongo. A mixed german shepherd looking thing and a small chihuahua. They are quite opposites in term of dogness but they are pretty good buddies.
Interesting things about little oh me: I prefer Guild Wars to WoW (can’t wait for GW2); in fact I quit WoW after those stupid Pandara got announced. I don’t listen to music really except in the car. My favorite thing ever is Wall-E, care to see my collection? I own a Wii and 3DS. I’ve never held a real job and dgaf. I have a hard time passing up a great deal. Christmas is by far the best holiday. I prefer not to discuss religion; mythology on the other hand is my fave. Politics do not interest me. I love to cook and learn it from the Cooking channel; Chopped and Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives are the best. Chocolate and sweets rarely appeal to me. I might be five foot tall. I consider myself more intelligent than most. And I looove cute things, the more wide-eyed, the better.
